Used in offshore applications for over 20 years, Hawkes Fire are pleased to offer you the proven turbine foam proportioner from Norway. The operating principle is simple but effective. By using the site water supply the need to use any other power source is eliminated. The water turbine is linked to a simple gear pump that is regulated by and proportional to the flow of incoming water.
The gear pump draws in the foam concentrate and injects it into the downstream side of the unit. Here it is mixed with water at a factory set and certified concentration – 1%, or 3% . Foam solution then flows to the discharge device with no restrictions on distance other than those associated with normal water hydraulic design. Sizing is dependent on the total flow rate required whilst allowing for reductions from the maximum due to the demand of smaller zones in the system. Units with flows up to 45,000 lpm are available if using a 1% concentrate and drawing from an atmospheric storage tank.
Please see below an example of how the system works.
